Pre-tax profits on $108 billion in sales were $11.6 billion, but they only paid $1.2 billion in Tax. Nearly $3 billion went uncollected! According to Forbes Magazine, “Verizon's low tax rate is due to its $42 billion wireless joint venture with Vodafone, which draws off much of Verizon's income.” According to UK Uncut, “For the last ten years Vodafone have been fighting tooth and nail to avoid paying the UK government around £6bn in tax.” The General Accounting Office estimates that around $100 Billion in revenue is lost to tax havens every year. Ohio’s share of that would be in excess of $4 Billion a year! Let’s make Verizon and all corporate tax cheats pay their fair share and stop attacking America’s Working Families with cruel and unnecessary budget cuts.
